Major Backlog

I've gotta stop the whole major backlog thing. When it drags too long, it'll become a photoblog coz too malas to write .. and my short term memory take a toll on the actual event.

First up .. Christmas 2008.

Another cozy celebration at home with the family and extended family plus some close friends.

It's been a while since I actually partied on festive occassions. All those bitching and procrastination about the jam, the ridiculous price to pay, major human traffic, disgusting sweat from human traffic, etc, people still do head out. Rarely have the chance to coz my dad's birthday falls on Christmas Eve itself.

The home cooked "buffet" was really good .. and what you see on the table is only half of what was really there. Minus the humongous turkey sponsored by my beloved neighbour plus the really good ham roll, which both made perfect ingredients for the club sandwich the next day.

Next ... my man turns XX. Well, not that I'm cursing but in reality a very insignificant percentage would live beyond three X's. Simple chop chop dinner before I flew back to catch the last episode of Little Nyonya. As crappy as the quality of the show may be .. but damn layan can?! I can tell you every single detail of the drama .. haha! Even Vic's angmoh'nated sis from downunder was surprised how we actually are interested in the drama till she too was hooked for a bit. Not coz she loved it .. but layan!

I know how pathetic looking his birthday cake is ... and the fact it's already "cut" before he actually "cuts" it. He's not a fan of candyland .. and wasting food is a huge SIN .. plus I am stuffed ...
I don't even know why should I explain myself. *roll eyes*

Bintan !

This trip is so short it doesn't count as a holiday.

Darling .. it's not a holiday.

Nic mentioned to me that anything lesser than 3 days doesn't count as a holiday. Fair enough.

The super impromptu trip finally worked a week after. We were supposed to go on Xmas week .. but we're such geniuses that we expect rooms to be available when we decided to book 2 days before our trip. On Xmas week. -__-

Us. He looks so egoistic and MCP in this pic with his chirpy traditional Japanese wife.

His other other half. Yo baaaaaeengggg~

Despite only a night's stay .. (coz we were such a genius again to expect rooms to be available just in case we wanted to extend. Which later was available 2 hours before we were supposed to board our ferry back) .. I felt we kinda did what we wanted to .. and had enough time to unwind and relax.

Indulge in food ... which was good. I'm not a fan of Thai cuisine coz I have a defected tongue that doesn't allow me to appreciate spiciness. But they managed to tame it all down and went easy on me. So that made Tomyam-kung and the Green Curry was good. I am bragging now .. bangga lebih .. konon I damn power in taking spicy food. I finally get to eat the proper pineapple fried rice. This is what it is suppose to taste like. Like the ones from Thailand. I guess I've been eating too many Malaysianized pineapple fried rice.
More relaxing indulgence. We got upgraded to the garden pavilion for free.
Scrubs, yogurt bath, massage and flower bath waiting for us.

I was expecting to get an 'indirect' tan from the pool laze. But there was so much passing rain We were soaked before we even dipped in the pool.

And managed to do some shopping. Where they sell loads of crappy looking carvings. I wonder if this is even supposed to be artistic. The dolls looked creepy to begin with. Like some black magic voodoo moodoo dolls used to cast curses.

This is only one of them.

Plus a whole load of bonding with the amazing Meliz. She's just too cool. And selumber'ded'. I like.

And finally ... our sourcing trip. Which ended up like some indulging pampering trip.

Ken's such a good host that we managed to see Bangkok from another perspective this time round. Usually people flock there just to take advantage of it's cheap'ness and super value for money. But am beginning to love Bangkok alot. It's a much better place to live in than Singapore if you have money. Can live like royalty man !

Zense.

Bangkok's version of Luna Bar that puts us to shame.

Am just so amazed with it's interior, tasteful house music, and perfect weather. I remember sweating like a pig over in KL coz the city is so densely populated (I'm referring to the buildings) that ventilation is a problem.

The weather in Bangkok at this point of time is perfect. I still can't accept the fact that it's so cold there. Felt like I was in Ozzie or something. We were so prepared for the expected humidity, which turned out otherwise. Chatuchak felt like it was air-conditioned. Not a single sweat. I was still in my cardi. I am still hollering to the whole world on Bangkok's weather like I've just came back from some country that no one has ever heard about. The over-promoting has gotta stop.

Saturday the temperature dipped. I felt it was like 18 or 20 degrees or something.

And the atas dinner over at Vertigo @ Banyan was torturing.

Being on the 59th storey with nerve piercing wind isn't very enjoyable.

Everything was just perfect except for 2 things. The weather that night. And the price.

Effing expensive. Super farang chopper place.

The 360 view from the top was incredibly beautiful.

This is one major romantic place. Everything just falls into place.

Picture perfect.

Food at it's best. For the price we're paying for, it betta be good.

Medallion 5-spiced mince duck, foie gras, endive marmalade and cinnamon orange gravy.

We were supposed to slowly appreciate the taste of the delicacy. But coz it was so effing cold, we chow'ed it down like some $2 economy rice on a 10-minute lunch break.

I'd love to do Vertigo again ... or Sirocco for a change. From where I come from, am so deprived of good food in good places.

For some reasons I can hear Charles voice in my mind. He being such an arse and suan'ing me for being a wannabe atas chick. -__-

And we meet again. Hello Flix !

Irony of visiting a club in Bangkok after all the overrated hoo-haa on the unfortunate case of Santika. As a precaution, the exit was very in sight. Ken hates me for keep on bringing that up about his second home. Neither do I want that to happen coz this place is just too good. Best of both worlds, with ample hot chicks and Utt-like men (taller somemore), plus very very good air-conditioning. I clubbed with my cardi. Yea .. it is cold inside out in Bangkok.

Time for bed. It's errand day tomorrow. I need sufficient rest.
